The Rochester Association of Black Journalists advocates for diversity in media, supports professionals and students, and fosters community through scholarships and networking opportunities.

We envision a media landscape that reflects the richness of our community, where Black voices are heard, valued, and celebrated in every newsroom.

RABJ EXECUTIVE BOARD

PRESIDENT

The President is the chief administrative officer of the association and presides at all general and Board meetings. The president chairs the Executive Committee and can appoint committee chairs with their approval. They may create or dissolve committees as needed and will be informed of committee activities. The President performs other duties as directed by the Board..

PARLIAMENTARIAN

The Secretary shall keep a roll of the membership of the Association, and shall notify members of the monthly meeting, and any special business meetings of the general membership that may be called. The Secretary shall keep a record of the proceedings of all business meetings of the Board of Directors and the general membership. He/she shall also undertake other duties as assigned by the President.

TREASURE

The Finance Director shall oversee the financial records of the Association, participate in budget development, maintain bank accounts, sign checks, apply for grants, and advise the Executive Committee and Board of Directors. Additionally, they shall arrange an annual audit and file appropriate tax forms, along with other duties assigned by the President.

VP OF PRINT

The Vice-President for Print shall oversee Association activities related to RABJ social events, the RABJ newsletter, press releases, community relations, and networking. He/she shall serve as a conduit through which the public information and resources are shared between the Board, committees, and the membership. He/she shall also undertake other duties as assigned by the President.

VP OF SOCIAL MEDIA & MARKETING

The Vice-President for Social Media & Marketing shall oversee the Association's RABJ's website and social media channels. He/She shall serve as a conduit through which community development-related information and resources are shared between the Board, committees, and the membership. He/she shall also undertake other duties as assigned by the President.

VP OF BROADCAST
The Vice-President for Broadcast shall oversee communication with Association membership, plan RABJ special events and awards given out. He/she shall serve as a conduit through which communications related information and resources are shared between the Board, committees, and the membership. He/she shall also undertake other duties assigned by the President.
